How do pet-friendly alarm systems work?
Pet friendly alarms share much technology with our standard wireless alarms but use special PIR motion detectors which are designed to recognise the weight, height & heat signature of a pet moving about the property & differentiate that from those of a human intruder.
Our Pyronix home alarm systems are made pet-friendly by careful design of the entire security system to allow for the number, type & size of pets plus the incorporation of specialist pet-immune infrared motion sensors which ignore the movement of pets up to 24kg (the typical weight of a golden retriever dog). This reduces the likelihood of your pets causing false alarms. For larger dogs or animals that jump up, we can advise you on the system design & setup options available to meet your needs.

Good security system design, the use of pet immune sensors & careful set-up aim to minimise false alarms in the majority of situations but they cannot be averted 100% as the movement of pets can sometimes be unpredictable.
The Pyronix sensors we fit incorporate intelligent pet immune technology to prevent alarm activation by pets up to 24kg (53lbs) which covers most dogs & cats. Where cats are prone to jumping up onto higher surfaces we recommend incorporating more door & window shock sensors into the system design rather than relying on internal PIR motion detector
Please tell us during our free initial home visit if you have larger pets and where they spend most time in your home. This allows us to design your security system with the right mix of sensors and advise you on setting zones (areas of your house) that allow larger animals to move freely within certain parts of your home without setting the alarm off.
Yes, our pet-friendly alarms can be set & used while your animals are at home when you’re not there to safeguard them against theft or kidnap.
